Cabaret Buja-BW in Karlsruhe

This time the Cabaret Buja-BW took place in Karlsruhe in the open air. The Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ) invited the event in cooperation with the Association of the Burundian Diaspora Germany. The event was planned and prepared together with the SEZ. A Burundian church service took place before the meeting.

The Cabaret Buja-BW is a format for informal intercultural exchange between committed people in and from Burundi and Baden-Württemberg. It takes place up to four times a year in various cities in Baden-Württemberg and is each dedicated to a social topic. The thematic focus of the Cabaret Buja-BW in Karlsruhe was “relaxation” and the question: “What do I do to relax, even in these difficult times?” In these very exciting times in both Burundi and Baden-Württemberg It is especially important to pay attention to your own well-being and create moments of relaxation for yourself.

“Evenings like today, chatting in a relaxed atmosphere and eating together, that’s relaxing for me,” was one statement when asked. In addition, spiritual contemplation was also important for some participants. There is probably no patent recipe for how people can relax, whether it's sport, going for a walk, meeting family or friends - everything can help. But the exchange also showed that relaxation takes place on different levels. If this moment of relaxation is consciously perceived, new strength can be drawn from it and used consciously when a break is needed again. The relationship to God, to one's own self, to other people and the relationship to nature were mentioned particularly frequently.

“Such spaces for meetings and the mutual exchange of experiences are very important in partnership work. Only when encounters take place is it possible to learn from each other, unlearn prejudices and approach each other openly. That’s why the cabaret is a very special format,” says Muna Hassaballah from SEZ Burundi Competence Center.

Questionnaire about partnership work

The questionnaire “Reflecting Partnerships” is now also available in French and Spanish.

“Those who ask questions change the world.” Inspiration for new views, different perspectives and aha experiences can sometimes come from questions rather than statements. The publication “Reflecting Partnerships” – which has now been published in German-English as well as in German-French and German-Spanish – has therefore only collected questions to provide the opportunity to (once again) examine the fundamentals of cooperation outside of everyday partnership work to move into the field of vision. The catalog of questions aims to stimulate, provide impulses and impetus. He wants to encourage people to reflect on their own work in order to professionalize and develop themselves further.

This publication was created as part of the specialist forum for international cooperation of the One World State Networks Working Group in Germany. Seven federal states – including Baden-Württemberg – provide promoters who deal with the topic of international partnerships. These collaborations usually relate to German associations that work with organizations in countries in the Global South. The questions collected in this publication are intended to shed light on the many aspects of international North-South and South-North cooperation and encourage reflection. This collection is not exhaustive, but can be seen as a “work in progress”.

You can find the documents in the topic area “Partnership Center” and here:
