At the beginning of November 2017, the ten-person SEZ team welcomed a new employee: Augusta Muhimpundu from Burundi will then work as an expert for the foundation's Burundi Competence Center until the end of June 2018. In her hometown of Bujumbura, she is the program coordinator for the Association Des Guides Du Burundi. This exchange program enables young women to do a six-month internship abroad. Augusta Muhimpundu's main focuses include training young leaders and empowering women. Since 2016 she has been one of the Young Women Speakers of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
The studied psychologist is part of the program AFRICA IS COMING! in Stuttgart. With the initiative of German companies, young managers from sub-Saharan Africa are completing a trainee program in Germany. In collaboration and with funding from the Robert Bosch Foundation, two civil society representatives were included in the program for the first time in 2017, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2017. Normally it is aimed exclusively at commercial companies.
The SEZ looks forward to working with Augusta Muhimpundu. We are particularly looking forward to her bringing a Burundian perspective to the work of the Burundi Competence Center and thus promoting further structuring and networking between Baden-Württemberg and the partner country Burundi.
