Come to Fair Handeln, which takes place from 24 to 27 April 2025 at the Messe Stuttgart!

Taste fair trade coffee from Burundi, develop ideas for school, everyday life and all around a fair and sustainable life and focus on Baden-Württemberg – you are welcome to do all this at the Fair Trade Fair 2025 invited.

At Fair Handel, around 100 exhibitors show trends and innovations about how to act and consume fairly globally. Three other exhibition areas focus on development cooperation and global partnerships, sustainable finance and tourism, as well as numerous activities that invite you to take part or taste them.

Future fashion presents sustainable styles and background knowledge on repair and more sustainable fashion.

Together with Slow Food in Hall 1, the largest exhibition hall in Stuttgart, Fair Trade invites you to a joint stage program. Because: whether it's about nutrition or consumption - our actions in Baden-Württemberg have an impact on people worldwide. That's why we don't want to live at the expense of others, but rather actively reduce injustices worldwide and look for solutions for more justice.

The international trade and consumer trade fair Fair Trade with a focus on fair trade and globally responsible action is a sales platform and at the same time an information and contact exchange for the industry, for the media, for decision-makers and consumers. The Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ) organizes Fair Trade together with Messe Stuttgart as part of the spring trade fairs. The SEZ is the technical and intellectual sponsor of the event.

Resource justice also means “The most important resource is people”

This Burundian proverb should guide our actions, as everyone can do something in their everyday lives for a fairer world. This is the core message of the trade fair - the opening of which initiated the anniversary year of the AMAHORO state partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Burundi.

Around 63.000 visitors experienced the spring trade fairs this year. The exhibitors focused on the topic of resource justice with a variety of campaigns and event formats. This year, at the national conference and at the FAIRchange market, everything revolved around the more than 40th anniversary of the BW-Burundi partnership.

All visitors were invited to the fair trade for fashion shows, music and hands-on workshops, as well as specialist lectures and poetry slams. This year, around 100 exhibitors showed concrete sustainable alternatives for conscious consumption and invited people to touch them, try them out and make their own.

From informative lectures to top-class discussions and inspiring workshops, the trade fair offers a platform on which we can create impulses for a sustainable future together.

Highlights at the trade fair

40 years of partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Burundi!

We are particularly pleased to celebrate the start of the 40th anniversary of the state partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Burundi with you. You will be surprised at the places where you can meet and get to know Baden-Württemberg's partner country Burundi at the trade fair.

Saturday, April 6th: Development policy state conference together with the BW-Burundi meeting with a focus on resource justice

#FairtradeSchools – Schools for Global Justice

Fairtrade schools and committed students from Baden-Württemberg have a new hashtag.

In Baden-Württemberg, over 130 fair trade schools are committed to fair trade. Now there is a new hashtag that makes the young students' commitment even more visible. With the hashtags #FairtradeSchoolsBaWü and #FairtradeSchool Students from all over Baden-Württemberg and beyond highlight their ideas about fair trade on social media. This is how you can Instagram, TikTok and Facebook Find new inspiration and action tips every day that invite you to get involved for a fairer world and sustainability. In the Media Library Interested parties can download flyers, action guidelines and other materials from the nationwide Fairtrade Schools campaign.

Since April 2014, schools in Baden-Württemberg have been able to receive the title of Fairtrade School and thus show why fair trade is needed and how it can be implemented in everyday school life. The Fairtrade Schools campaign offers teachers the opportunity to concretely integrate sustainability into everyday school life and to illustrate how fairer consumption and trade alternatives can be implemented. Since 2021, Theresa Schopper, Minister for Culture, Youth and Sport, has taken over the patronage of the Fairtrade Schools in Baden-Württemberg to honor the commitment of young people to a fairer world.

For the Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ), it is important that students from Baden-Württemberg deal with questions of global justice, global connections and the consequences of their own actions for people in other regions of the world. At SEZ, teachers from all types of schools receive suggestions and support in implementing topics such as fair trade, global environmental education or human rights in lessons, on project days and in everyday school life.
