Start of the Mindchangers projects 2021

Kick-off event for the Mindchangers projects 2021 with the project sponsors and representatives of the SEZ and the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry

The starting signal for the Mindchangers projects was given on October 8, 2021.

At the start of the funded Mindchangers projects 2021, the selected project sponsors met on October 08th, 2021 to get in the mood for the coming year together. After almost a year of preparation by the Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ) and the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry, the first Mindchangers projects are now starting in Baden-Württemberg. Mindchangers is a project of the European Union and stands for global change that begins here in Baden-Württemberg.

In the next twelve months, eleven different ones will take place in Baden-Württemberg Mindchangers projects implemented, which are intended to provide new impetus around the topics of climate justice and migration. These eleven projects were selected by an independent committee of experts from various disciplines such as climate, sustainability, diversity, migration and education.

In the joint kick-off workshop, the organizations presented their different projects to each other. The focus was on networking and setting common goals for the coming year. “For me personally, this is the first project of this size that I have been able to help realize and I am looking forward to the close exchange with the Mindchangers team and the other project sponsors,” said a participant in the kick-off workshop.

The Mindchangers projects are primarily aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 35 who are intended to be sensitized to the issues of climate justice and migration. “I was impressed by the many creative projects and I hope that the projects can really have a long-term impact on society,” said a comment from the review panel.

The mood at the opening event was also consistently positive: “We are very excited to see where the journey will take us. Working with young people is very important, but ultimately they function primarily as multipliers. We want to empower the generation of the future and give them knowledge to advocate for the world in which they want to raise their children,” noted another workshop participant.

The expectations of everyone involved in the Mindchangers project are high, but we urgently need a change of perspective that can lead to greater global justice. “I hope that the participation of young people will have an influence on society and that constructive change will come about within society,” is how one expert summarizes the committee’s expectations.
