Prof. Dr. Abed Schokry talks about life in Gaza, about the war and about 200 days of flight. Israel has loyal allies, Palestinian civil society, in Gaza and elsewhere, but the international community is still failing to provide protection and prospects for a life in dignity.
After studying and completing his doctorate in Germany, Prof. Dr. Abed Schokry returned to his homeland Gaza in 2007. He worked at the university in Gaza, which was bombed in October 2023. Until his family's life-threatening escape in 2024, Schokry became one of the few contemporary witnesses of the Gaza war. His newsletter, written in German, was also read at the ecumenical peace prayer in Heiningen. Today, Schokry lives with his family in Bonn. He is a visiting professor at the Technical University of Berlin.
