Feminist development policy – an introduction and reflection

Feminist struggles for greater equality and participation have been part of all societies for many centuries - but the discourses are mostly influenced by “Western” feminism. The digital event series “Feminist Development Policy: Women’s and LGBTQI+ Rights Worldwide” examines gender equality from a global perspective, shows examples from countries in the Global South and presents elements of feminist development policy.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) pursues a feminist development policy and presented a strategy in March 2023 to promote the equal participation of all people in social, political and economic life - regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or skin color , disability or other characteristics. To start the series, two speakers will give an overview of feminist development policy, explain the background and reflect on current developments:

Speakers:
Sheena Anderson, Program Manager, Center for Feminist Foreign Policy (CFFP)
Lydia Both, head of the regional project Political Feminism and Gender at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Beirut

Moderation: Dr. Friederike Beier

The online events take place via Zoom from 18:30 p.m. to 20 p.m. (time subject to change).

Participation is free of charge. Registration is possible up to one day before the events at https://www.fes.de/veranstaltungen/ Veranstaltungsdetail/273218. The Zoom link will be sent after registration on the day of the event.
