Feminist struggles for greater equality and participation have been part of all societies for many centuries - but the discourses are mostly influenced by “Western” feminism. The digital event series “Feminist Development Policy: Women’s and LGBTQI+ Rights Worldwide” examines gender equality from a global perspective, shows examples from countries in the Global South and presents elements of feminist development policy.
The strategy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) “Feminist development policy – for fair and strong societies worldwide” explicitly includes queer perspectives and advocates for the rights of all people. But in many countries, the rights of LGBTQI+ people are threatened and their safety is at risk. Two speakers report on the current situation:
