Feminist struggles for greater equality and participation have been part of all societies for many centuries - but the discourses are mostly influenced by “Western” feminism. The digital event series “Feminist Development Policy: Women’s and LGBTQI+ Rights Worldwide” examines gender equality from a global perspective, shows examples from countries in the Global South and presents elements of feminist development policy.
The consequences of the climate crisis affect people differently, and gender is a crucial factor: gender roles determine social status, division of labor, access to resources and political participation. Women and children are many times more likely to die in a disaster than men. They suffer longer and more severely after crises, for example due to lower incomes and poorer access to means of production, food insecurity and malnutrition.
Speakers will be announced later.
Moderation: Dr. Friederike Beier
