Inauguration of a tree nursery in Bubanza: A joint environmental project of SEZ and Greening Burundi

Burundi is suffering greatly from the effects of climate change, such as drought, floods and soil infertility.
In 2020, the Bubanza region had 32,5 kha of natural forest. However, by 2023, the region lost 26 ha of this forest
(Bubanza, Burundi Deforestation Rates & Statistics | GFW). This event is an initiative to promote ecological
Resilience in Bubanza. It takes place at the Lycée Bubanza and the Lycée Communal GISOVU, as well as on communal plots belonging to 60 households around the schools. For questions, please contact Fatoumata Dojemda at djomeda@sez.de
