To what extent does marine protection already begin on local rivers? What is the biodiversity status of river landscapes? And what does our behavior have to do with it?
During a kayak tour on the Elsenz in Kraichgau, the major challenges of the global sustainability goals become clear on the small river: water pollution, loss of biodiversity and the effect of climate change on the world's oceans. We also learn more about why the sea is a source of life and where this basis of life is threatened by overfishing. During the sporty tour there will also be a guided voluntary “clean-up” of the river bank, during which rubbish from nature is collected.

Background: in order to make the 17 goals for sustainable development set by the global community for all countries better known, Engagement Global and the Rhine-Neckar Region Association (VRRN) have developed seven adventure tours. These are a new development policy educational offering in the rural regions of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
The tours are guided and, with their individual learning stations, provide an insight into regional peculiarities of the landscape. They combine exercise and fun with education and are aimed at the general public. The tours encourage everyone to work towards implementing the 17 sustainability goals. Trained tour guides know the region and make current references to the model of global sustainable development and individual sustainability goals. Under the motto “global.local.experience”, global challenges can be experienced in regional areas.
