Documentary by Jared P. Scott + conversation with Emmanuel Niyoyabikoze, founder of Greening Burundi
It is one of the most ambitious climate projects in the world: an 8.000-kilometer-long belt of trees is being planted across the African continent to stop the desert from spreading and bring food, jobs and a future to millions of people. Malian singer Inna Modja travels along this still-incomplete green wall to the people of Senegal, Mali, Nigeria and Ethiopia. She speaks to them about their fears, dreams and hopes in a language that has always defined African culture: music. In this way, the film spins out the soundtrack of the "Great Green Wall" in a collective melodic collage.
In his fascinating documentary, Jared P. Scott tells a rhythmic story of optimism, solidarity and determination, revealing a new African generation ready to take control of their destiny and fight climate change. The film was produced with the support of the United Nations.
