Funding program works! – Awards for projects

“The foundation of a diverse and profitable development policy lies in the uniqueness and diversity of its projects,” said Andrea Schwarz, the development policy spokeswoman for the Green parliamentary group in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.

At the Fair Trade trade fair, she honored the sponsors of the development policy projects of the SEZ funding program beffekt! out of. Schwarz presented the certificates with the words: “The different approaches of different people enable our work to reach as many people as possible here and in the global south. That's why I can only call on you to stay as you are. Have the courage to take on a project that you personally consider important. Because only those who are XNUMX percent convinced of a project can inspire and inspire other people." And further: "If you see the passion and the commitment, then I can at least speak for the Green group and say that we “We are very committed to ensuring that the funds are not only maintained, but even increased.”

Philipp Keil, the executive director of the Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ), described the committed women and men who work within the funding program as “heroes of action”! were honored at the trade fair. “We need more good, collaborative, effective projects and we need the people who live these partnerships,” he said in his speech. “We are pleased that the State Ministry is recognizing this commitment by increasing the funds for the funding program! has increased.”

The funding program works! the SEZ

The SEZ's new funding program "beffekt!" combines the previously separate funding lines for projects at home and abroad with funds from the state of Baden-Württemberg. It was allocated one million euros each for 2018 and 2019. This is showing initial effects: In 2018, almost twice as many projects were able to benefit from the funding compared to the previous year. As part of the Fair Trade trade fair (April 25th to 28th, Messe Stuttgart), the SEZ will award the supported sponsoring organizations together with representatives of state politics on Saturday, April 27th, 2019.

The award is intended to honor the commitment of citizens in Baden-Württemberg who are committed to sustainable development worldwide.

On the one hand, these are projects in the Global South that are based on initiatives from partner institutions in the relevant countries. On the other hand, actors in development policy education work are honored whose projects contribute to a change in awareness here in Baden-Württemberg. The “beffekt!” funding program also benefits projects in Baden-Württemberg’s partner country Burundi in East Africa. The partnership work focuses on food security, income generation and peacebuilding.
