Green party group office donates to Burundi

The employees of the Green Party parliamentary group office in the state parliament collected over 2.600 euros for Burundi at Christmas. On February 12th, parliamentary group leader Andreas Schwarz, together with Hanne Niebuhr and Friederike Köstlin, presented a check to the executive board of the SEZ, Philipp Keil.

The donations will benefit the primary school in Muyogoro, where the money will be used to renovate the sanitary facilities for the students. The school was built in 2011 with the support of the Action-Survive association for 400 students, including money from the SEZ. The number of children receiving lessons there has almost doubled. The school desks were also no longer enough.

The Action Survive association was founded by people from the Burundian diaspora. Funding this project will improve the conditions for education in Burundi, but is also an example of partnership-based collaboration with committed people from Burundi who live in Baden-Württemberg.
