Climate change is having a huge impact on the Bwera community, which relies on agriculture and rain for its livelihood. Increasingly erratic rainy seasons are affecting harvests and thus income opportunities.
Trees have a positive effect on the microclimate and can mitigate the effects of climate change. That is why Fairventures Worldwide Uganda is working with the Bwera Tree Farmers Group and distributing suitable tree seedlings to 50 smallholder farmers. In training courses on agroforestry practices, the farmers learn how to integrate trees into their fields.
The trees planted will increase forest cover, mitigate climate change and improve the living conditions of small farmers.
