UPRIGHT

The Congolese Prime Minister offered Belgium a partnership of equals. This is the only way both countries could emancipate themselves from colonialism. Lumumba's offer fell flat. In Burkina Faso, the “land of the upright,” emancipation was more successful. Ludwigsburg has a development partnership with Kongoussi. The municipal adult education center sees this as an opportunity to learn on an equal footing and as an obligation to emancipate colonialist attitudes and practices. The project “AufRecht” deals with 6 topics in an educational encounter: the emancipation of colonialist discourses, political and cultural emancipation movements in Africa, emancipatory solutions for neo-colonial upheavals, Francophonie as an emancipation agency; as well as the perspectives of municipal development partnerships. The working groups process their results into generally accessible film clips.
