WOMEN PROMOTE LOCAL HEALTH HOLISTICALLY AS A CONTRIBUTION TO COPING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Casa de Apoyo a la Mujer (CAM) is strengthening its collaboration with the women's organization Ixiktak of the Yocotan ethnic group in southern Mexico. Together they are combating the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and promoting the resilience and economic autonomy of local women and their families through a collective and holistic health approach. Participatory diagnoses determine the need for health care, which is addressed through a medical consultation. Training, workshops and productive activities promote traditional medicine and regional foods. The educational offerings are adapted to culture, gender and age and are aimed at both the target population and health promoters (multipliers).
