In Gandhi's 150th anniversary year, people in and around Freiburg are beginning to spin their own threads of peace. These are created as actual threads made from local raw materials such as sheep's wool or flax and as an individual message of peace: “My/our contribution to peace in the world!”. On World Peace Day 2020, the threads will be publicly linked into a symbolic peace network. The peace messages are brought together into a joint declaration. During the “creating process”, participants are encouraged to engage in dialogue and develop constructive approaches to action through: impulses in the form of texts and questions, exchange and networking meetings, training for non-violent action and workshops on textile production and its ecological and social impacts.
