The project supports 60 young people affected by violence and poverty and their families in Buterere and Kamenge. The aim is to reduce the risk of further violence, promote social skills and improve access to education through psychological support and parenting advice. Mediators from the Centres de Développement Familial et Communautaire are trained to recognize mental illnesses and refer those affected. Psychological interventions for affected young people, strengthening parental parenting skills to prevent child abuse and conflicts, enabling them to attend school/get an apprenticeship, and taking out family insurance to ensure education and health care are also offered.
