The aim of the project was to create sustainable economic development in the Dohuk region with a specific focus on the needs of Yazidi women and women and girls of the host population in Dohuk Governorate. This was done through the provision of economic opportunities and activities through the International Organization for Migration (IOM). In collaboration with the government and local authorities, the “Khanke Carpet Factory” (including a childcare facility, conference room and café) was built in Khanke, generating over 31 jobs for women. In addition, vocational training in wool processing was created so that the factory's carpets can be made from local materials.
Additionally, the Carpet Factory Training Center provides ongoing community support through psychosocial care.
