MANNHEIM-BECHEM: CLIMATE PROTECTION THROUGH REFORESTATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN GHANA

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Ghana has lost more than 30% of its forest through deforestation - with correspondingly serious consequences for the climate, people and the environment. This is also clearly noticeable in the city of Bechem, which is located in the forest and tropical zone. Rapid deforestation in the region has contributed to a major negative change in the climate. Loss of income, poverty, hunger and rural exodus are the consequences of the destruction of the natural habitat. Mannheim and Bechem would like to counteract this development with reforestation and environmental education measures and contribute to promoting the sustainable use of forests and trees in Bechem and the region.
