Since 2021, Pro Ocean has been running a marine conservation project with a holistic approach to marine environmental education, regular clean-ups and improving recycling solutions in the south of Negros Island.
In order to ensure a positive contribution in the long term, we would like to support the 2025 on-site team's plan to better evaluate the causes and origins of the waste we find on the beach. This includes recording the items (brands, packaging volume, age of the items), collecting data including relevant factors (rainy/dry season, tourist use, weather conditions) and investigating the sources of waste input (lagoons, landfills, rivers).
The findings are intended to show connections in order to achieve long-term improved and inclusive waste management locally.
