PREVENTION OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE

Due to Covid-19, poverty and unemployment continue to impact vulnerable women and girls, a recent assessment by 'The Lotus Flower' in three displaced and refugee camps found that 67% of respondents have experienced increased sexual exploitation and abuse. Over 90% of respondents said that women and girls experience this most critically.
Our program will include community awareness raising on SEA in camps, specifically targeting women and girls, reaching 6 people in 1.500 months. We will also hold weekly workshops on SEA in the workplace and support 100 NGO/camp staff over a period of 6 months. In addition, workshops on SEA in the workplace for 20 employees in Dohuk Governorate will reach 200 people. Posters, brochures and information cards distributed on site will highlight the mechanisms of SEA reporting, and the Lotus Flower team, in collaboration with UNFPA, UNOTCHA and the Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women in Duhok City, will provide mental health support to victims while maintaining confidentiality Provide health/legal assistance.
