QUALIFIED DRINKING WATER WELL CONSTRUCTION IN BANGLADESH. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS FOR TWO PILOT WELLS

In the search for arsenic-free water, wells in Bangladesh are often drilled unnecessarily deep - up to 300 m. As part of an extensive investigation in the area of two planned drilling sites at schools near the city of Nabiganj (NE Bangladesh), AGAPE Bangladesh is to sample existing wells and analyze the groundwater. In addition, deep wells are examined using geophysical methods. From this, a geochemical depth profile of the groundwater is created and two wells with ideal depths are built in which high-quality water can be found sustainably and cost-effectively. Together with the Department for Public Health Engineering (DPHE), simple methods are being developed to pass on the know-how to local drilling companies.
