RESISTING VOICES – CLACK-CLICK-NICK

Resisting Voices is an interactive exhibition project that questions the image of the West as a “benevolent benefactor” of Africa. The “Nickneger figures” that could be found in churches in Germany just a few years ago serve as the starting point for this project. The cliché-laden impressions that Europe, the rich, benevolent continent and Africa is the antithesis of Europe with all sorts of negative stereotypes, are critically questioned through our art exhibitions and discourse events, and thus counteract the negative impressions about Africa. The goal is to empower new voices and facilitate discussions that promote a paradigm shift in the way Africa is seen and perceived in German society.
