The project aims to repair three key water tanks on Wasini Island that are essential for storing rainwater - the island's main source of freshwater. Given the lack of natural freshwater and saline groundwater on the island, increasing rainwater storage capacity is an important step in alleviating chronic water shortages. The three water tanks, which are more than 30 years old, have been leaking heavily for the past five years and have a water retention rate of less than 50%. The project aims to achieve the objective by restoring and improving three of the six existing water tanks, enabling the community to store enough water during the rainy season for the dry months.
