The educational situation in Burundi is difficult. Only a small proportion (< 6%) has access to higher education. With our project, we are improving the educational and living situation of young people in Burundi. We award full scholarships to particularly needy and committed Burundians (initially for 1 year). At the same time, we support them through a local contact person and a buddy system. With the buddy system, we also promote intercultural exchange between Burundian and German students. With the social commitment of the students in Burundi, their professional qualifications and our awareness-raising work in Germany, we achieve effects that go far beyond the short-term study financing of individual people, both in terms of breadth and time.
