SONALIGHT

To date, there is no stable electricity infrastructure in rural regions of India, which is why kerosene lamps are largely used as a light source. These emit toxic fumes, cause fires and only provide weak light. SoNalight's goal is to provide battery-operated LED lamps as a safe source of light, starting with the residents of a village in the Assam region. These can be charged on a central solar panel. For this purpose, we are building a solar kiosk that is operated by a villager. The residents purchase the lamp through a rent-to-buy system - after one year of renting, the lamp becomes their property. The rent of the lamp and the charging fee are cheaper than the kerosene that you need for your current lamps.
