SUPPORTING A SELF-HELP GROUP OF MOTHERS OF DISABLED CHILDREN

In many African countries, disability is synonymous with exclusion from society. Friends of Rwanda eV supports an initiative by women with disabled children in the Rubavu district. The goal is to set up a protected space in which mothers with disabled children can meet and at the same time provide basic care for the children such as preschool and physiotherapy. A care system should also create opportunities for mothers to create an economic basis for themselves, for example by: B. cultivate their own fields, go to the market or do paid work. At the same time, the social participation of mothers with disabled children should be promoted.
