VUCUCENCEZELE

"Vukuzenzele" is a multiplier project in and around Muizenberg (Cape Town) with a strong focus on community building and equal opportunities. The word means "wake up and do it yourself!" (Xhosa). The aim is to use training and empowerment methods to acquire important skills that enable those involved to actively support themselves and the community. The project includes workshops for 8 young multipliers in the areas of project management, communication, group leadership and the participatory video approach. In the second half of the year, the participants pass on their know-how in an exchange with a group from Xolobeni (Eastern Cape) that is severely oppressed. In this way, everyone involved learns valuable perspectives, new languages and the need to get involved in human rights. The multiplier program is to be continued and used as the basis for a long-term volunteer program.
