We want to ensure that women and girls in crisis regions have the self-confidence, strength and opportunity to lead a self-determined life, overcome trauma and actively contribute to reconciliation in society. Our work is based on the guiding principle of UN Resolution 1325, which advocates the participation of women in peace processes, the prevention of armed conflicts, the protection of women and girls in wars and crises and the prosecution of perpetrators. AMICA is building on site e.V. sets up psychosocial women's centers in which specialists provide social, legal and medical advice, therapeutic support and measures to secure livelihoods. Political education as well as lobbying and public relations are other important building blocks of cooperation with local partner organizations. AMICA e.V. is currently active in Libya, for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, in Bosnia-Herzegovina and eastern Ukraine as well as Russia. Other project countries included Kosovo, the Russian Republic of Chechnya, the occupied Palestinian territories and Macedonia as well as Jordan. For its long-standing commitment in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo, AMICA e.V. received the German UNIFEM Prize 2010. In 2016, AMICA e.V. was awarded the Peace Prize " Sievers-häuser Encouragement” was honored for helping people traumatized by war and flight. AMICA e.V. also received the One World Prize from the state of Baden-Württemberg for its work in Libya. In 2017, AMICA e.V. was nominated for the German Engagement Prize. In addition, the long-standing CEO of AMICA e.V., Dr. Gabriele Michel, honored with the Federal Cross of Merit by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
