Since its founding in 1976 (at that time under the name “Association for Peace Education Tübingen e.V.), the Institute for Peace Education has established itself as a peace education service center nationwide. Didactically prepared publications and audiovisual media are created on a variety of topics, literature and media overviews are developed, and seminars are held. The offerings are used by individuals from all areas of education and by the interested public. Recognized teacher training institutes, youth welfare offices or adult education centers are important cooperation partners. The institute has an office in Tübingen and works in conjunction with experienced experts from science and research, education and media work as well as graphic implementation and computer applications. All publications are published by our own publishing house. The work is financed primarily through third-party funded projects, commissioned work and contributions from members (approx. 250). Peace education is not a phenomenon of the times; it is necessary as long as people are oppressed and conflicts are resolved with violence .Peace education is part of a culture of peace that is characterized by a civil society. In this sense, peace education provides concrete assistance for education in the family and preschool, in school lessons and in extracurricular educational work. Peace education is based on the conviction that attitudes and behavior can be changed through upbringing and education and have an impact on political decisions and structures. Peace education , as developed and practiced in the Institute for Peace Education, is also an invitation to intervene in society and politics. It sees the responsibility of the individual, but also takes into account the importance of structural framework conditions. n of preparatory seminars were carried out. Another important topic area that has been added in recent years is “Global Learning”. A lot of space is given to the use of different methods of political education as well as the inclusion of new media.
