Perspectives for street children in Germany: Off-Road-Kids e.V. looks after minors and adolescents (up to 21 years of age) who live homeless in Germany or are at acute risk of homelessness. The aim of Off-Road-Kids e.V.'s national street social work is to work together with individual "street children". to research for the best possible perspective. Hometown and current whereabouts are not of primary importance. Off-Road-Kids e.V. works throughout Germany and is not bound to city limits. Young people can also travel over long distances? perhaps to the family at home, to the responsible youth welfare office or to a therapy facility? to be accompanied. A toll-free emergency number allows the young people in care to contact Off-Road-Kids e.V. around the clock. In acute crisis situations, the street workers can intervene immediately in this way. As part of the outreach street social work of Off-Road-Kids e.V., at Brennpunkt Berlin, young people who do not come from Berlin are given advice and support. In Berlin, too, Off-Road-Kids e.V. is not bound to city limits and can travel together with individual minors to their parents and youth welfare offices in their hometown as part of the search for perspectives. This is what sets Off-Road-Kids e.V. apart from the existing local help systems. In the specially set up Berlin Off-Road-Kids streetwork office, young people are offered individual advice in a protected setting. Off-Road-Kids e.V. works perspectively, but does not maintain an emergency contact point, food distribution, clothing store or overnight accommodation in Berlin. If there is an acute need, the young Trebe walkers are referred to local institutions. Unbureaucratic emergency aid measures are possible in acute individual cases. Motivated young people who cannot find any future help either from their families or from the youth welfare service at home can be accepted into the full-time, co-educational youth residential group run by Off-Road-Kids e.V. in Bad Dürrheim (Black Forest) and start school there and get training.
