Building and maintaining relationships between countries is not just the responsibility of governments and businesses. What is essential is that people meet each other and understand each other – across all borders. This applies particularly to our relationship with people in developing countries, to whom we feel committed. The north-south divide with its enormous wealth gap is one of the greatest economic, social and global political challenges of today. Whether world peace is maintained depends on how we deal with it. Every country and every citizen bears some responsibility for this. Every initiative, every step to improve living conditions in poor countries is also a contribution to preserving our livelihoods and improving the health of the environment - worldwide. The state of Baden-Württemberg faces this responsibility. The Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation, established by the state, makes an important contribution to raising awareness and promotes understanding and willingness to help developing countries.
