The new funding program “beffekt!” from the Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ) combines the previously separate funding lines for projects at home and abroad using funds from the state of Baden-Württemberg. It was allocated one million euros each for 2018 and 2019. This is showing initial effects: In 2018, almost twice as many projects were able to benefit from the funding compared to the previous year. As part of the Fair Trade trade fair (April 25th to 28th, Messe Stuttgart), the SEZ, together with representatives of state politics, will award the sponsored organizations.
The award is intended to honor the commitment of citizens in Baden-Württemberg who are committed to sustainable development worldwide.
On the one hand, these are projects in the Global South that are based on initiatives from partner institutions in the relevant countries. On the other hand, actors in development policy education work are honored whose projects contribute to a change in awareness here in Baden-Württemberg. The “beffekt!” funding program also benefits projects in Baden-Württemberg’s partner country Burundi in East Africa. The partnership work focuses on food security, income generation and peacebuilding.
