The Kenyan social entrepreneur and political consultant Waithero Gaitho will be the keynote speaker at the opening of the Fair Trade trade fair, speaking about sustainable and ecological innovations from Africa and the African start-up scene.
The founder and managing director of Alternatives Africa knows the scene very well. She advises and supports Kenyan social enterprises, with a particular focus on young people who want to become self-employed as micro and small entrepreneurs. Since founding her company, she has advised more than a thousand start-ups and helped over a hundred to further grow through her advice. In addition to her work as a social entrepreneur, Waithera Gaitho is also chairwoman of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), the peak organization of private entrepreneurs in Kenya.
Under the title African Innovators, three start-ups from Africa are presenting their companies, their products and their solutions at the Fair Trade trade fair. They also enable visitors to change their perspective, away from the European perspective and towards the African perspective. With the African Innovators, the SEZ is further expanding its network with young African social entrepreneurs and connecting them with German start-ups and the fair trade scene.

Visitors can expect a variety of products and offers of the highest quality. From food or handicrafts from fair trade to eco-fair fashion and information on development cooperation, sustainable investments to climate-conscious and ethically and socially just travel offers.
The trade fair will be accompanied by an attractive and informative event Fringe events instead.
