Eligible to apply are corporations (e.g. associations, foundations or gGmbHs) based in Baden-Württemberg, which are recognized as non-profit organizations by the tax office, as well as municipalities, parishes and educational institutions in Baden-Württemberg.
For bwirkt! Burundi:
In Baden-Württemberg Local, non-profit institutions (such as One World initiatives, municipalities, associations, migrant self-organizations, and religious organizations) that collaborate with a partner organization in Burundi are welcome. It is important that the partner organization in Burundi is predominantly staffed by local employees. In individual cases, and if cooperation within Baden-Württemberg is not possible, Germany-wide sponsoring organizations may also apply.
Unfortunately, projects that have already started cannot be funded.
Only one application per institution is permitted per call for applications.
Both the foundation's mission and the guidelines of the funding lines stipulate that the association's headquarters must be in Baden-Württemberg. Exceptions can only be made on the funding line! Burundi can be made. For other funding opportunities, please see other funding opportunities.
Newly founded organizations without an exemption notice can be funded if you can provide a notice of determination.
If you clearly sort out what effect you want to achieve on which target group, sorting will certainly be easier. If an impact is to be achieved in Baden-Württemberg and on the Baden-Württemberg population, we sort projects into beffects!Domestic. If the effect is mainly to be expected abroad or if the main component is a project with a foreign connection, then it is more of a case for beffective! Abroad.
No. The partner organization must be a registered non-profit organization or a public institution that is independent of the German applicant organization. If you have any borderline cases, please contact us.
A maximum of €20.000 in funding can be applied for for a project. The personal contribution of the total amount for a project must be at least 15%.
The minimum personal contribution (at least 15%) of the total amount can also be replaced by third-party funds raised.
Engagement Global's bengo funding does not accept public funds as third-party funding. Therefore, SEZ funding cannot be applied for in connection with a bengo project.
If personnel must be seconded from Germany or by the German organization, a detailed justification must be provided as to why this is necessary for the implementation of the project. This includes information about the person, their qualifications, and the duration of the assignment. To what extent can the seconded person's role or qualifications not be performed locally? How is integration into local structures planned?
Expenses on the part of local staff who are directly involved in project implementation should be adjusted to the respective monthly average wages of the relevant professional group (local appropriateness of payment). The tasks of the co-financed staff must be described.
Yes, you can find the application documents here in French: beffects! Burundi Français
We see the translation service as part of the responsibility of the Baden-Württemberg partner, who is responsible for the administrative handling of the project.
The SEZ convenes an award committee to decide on the allocation of funding.
The SEZ only has a limited amount of funding available each year. The number of applications we receive per funding round therefore determines the likelihood of receiving funding.
Average experience over the past few years shows a trend that approximately half of the applications for the bwirkt! Domestic funding line were approved, as was the case for bwirkt! Burundi. For bwirkt! International, the number was approximately one-quarter of the applications received.
We recommend consulting ours Glossary impact orientation.
Funding is based on the principle of fixed-amount financing. This means that a fixed amount available for funding is determined based on the information in the income and expenditure plan.
If the project becomes cheaper, the savings benefit the applicant organization. If the expenditures are less than the total funding, the remaining amounts must be repaid upon settlement.
If there have been previous projects that were funded with state funds, the SEZ must have proof of use for these (unless the planned project duration has not yet expired or the specified reporting deadline has not yet been reached), otherwise the project sponsor is not eligible to apply.
The receipts must contain the information and attachments customary in business transactions. Expenditure receipts, in particular, must include the payee, the reason and date of payment, proof of payment, and, in the case of items, the intended use, as well as tax-related information. For non-cash payments, the date of payment and proof of payment may be omitted if the payment can be verified through the accounting records. Furthermore, the receipts must contain a clear reference to the project (e.g., the project number).
Fee or work contracts must be concluded in writing. The contract must regulate: period of activity, specific description of services, amount of the fee, accounting, tax recording and declaration obligations. Fee payments to paid (full-time) employees or members of the funding recipient are generally not eligible for funding. The contracts must be attached to the proof of use.
