Since 2023, the specialist promoter at the SEZ has held the title of promoter for local partnership initiatives. She is part of the nationwide One World Promoter Program, which imparts knowledge and skills for global sustainable development in our society. The specialist promoter is intended to create networks and cooperation for international partnerships and to initiate and strengthen transcultural encounters. The target group are committed people in Baden-Württemberg and in particular partnership groups.
Partnership is the core of our daily work. However, the term partnership is used in an inflated way and everyone has an idea of what a partnership could mean. We see partnerships as human encounters that are based on openness, trust, honesty, responsibility and respect and mean a benefit for everyone involved. We strive for equal and fair partnerships. However, this requires us to recognize our own privileges and global responsibilities and to reduce existing colonial power asymmetries. We require learning from the Global South in order to be able to successfully implement plans and projects in partnership work.
This series of events invites all actors – migrant and non-migrant – of the partnership groups in Baden-Württemberg. Digital networking meetings will take place in 2024 will take place on February 23, April 6, July 5 and October 18 from 16:00 p.m. to 18:30 p.m.
Would you like to attend the support meetings? Then send us an email to hailu@sez.de and we will be happy to add you to the mailing list.
The state-wide networking meeting of the partnership groups is a digital series of events that offers space for networking, exchange and mutual support for the numerous Baden-Württemberg associations, initiatives and organizations that maintain a partnership with initiatives and organizations in countries of the Global South. In addition to personal commitment, a "real" partnership requires many skills. Trustful partnerships require, among other things, a willingness to learn and to reflect on one's own position and entanglements in the historical and social structures. Migrant actors in Baden-Württemberg play an important role in development partnership work and are actively involved in countries of the Global South. However, this commitment is often not recognized or overlooked. We would like to use the state-wide meetings together as a platform to promote regional and supra-regional networking, support the exchange of knowledge and resources, promote critical reflection on power inequalities, post-colonial thinking and action, and promote openness to change processes in one's own environment.
The event series “State-wide digital networking meeting of partnership groups in Baden-Württemberg” takes place in cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Development Policy Association (DEAB), regional promoters Heide Öchslen in Schwäbisch Hall, Simone Kegelmann in Friedrichshafen, Sylvia Holzhäuer-Ruprecht in Kartlsruhe. Jonas Bauscher in Freiburg, Service for Mission, Ecumenism and Development (DiMOE), Center for Development-Related Education of the Evangelical Regional Church of Württemberg (ZEB) and the Piela-Bilanga Association. v. A selection of successful projects from the One World Promoters Program can be found here.
The nationwide One World Promoters program is supported by the working group of the One World State Networks in Germany (agl). In Baden-Württemberg, the program is supported and coordinated by DEAB. The program is jointly financed by the federal states and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The One World Promoters are intended to impart the knowledge and competence for global sustainable development in our society and to initiate and strengthen networks, collaborations and partnerships. The Baden-Württemberg Development Cooperation Foundation (SEZ) has been responsible for the specialist promoter office for local partnership initiatives since 2013. The specialist promoter for local partnership initiatives will be happy to support you on topics relating to global partnerships and international cooperation.
With its 16 members – the One World Country Networks – the association is committed to future-oriented global development that is based on the principles of social justice, ecological sustainability, democracy and participation.
The work of agl is non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational. The agl has its office in Berlin.
